Live From Brooklyn (Cont'd)

Our actual main purpose for heading down to DUMBO was to meet some friends for pizza at Grimaldi's which is so famous that it literally gets a line down the block to get in.

After pizza we walked around and enjoyed some of the sights around Brooklyn including the super eerie but oddly intriguing closed down abandoned park...

DUMBO (as in the elephant)

according to sources, DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is one of the newest areas once considered hip but overtaken by the yuppies who drive up prices and, consequently, drive out all the things that made the area great in the first place. we were not dissuaded - it was love at first sight. although, we fall in love with every new neighbourhood we visit, and continue to re-fall in love with old neighbourhoods we visit, so take us falling in love for what it's worth.....

We wouldn't be the dog lovers we are if we didn't take random pictures of incredibly large dogs and their not-qutie-as-big partners...

Matty's Birthday 2009

We started Matty's birthday celebration off with a bang when Damian came for a surprise visit.

While Matt took Damian to school, showed him around his campus, and went to class, etc. Em was at work so we all decided that when the weekend came, we would be sure to have lots of fun.

On Friday, we headed into the city without a plan and just saw where the night took us. One place ended up being Matt's favorite diner, Katz's, which was a first for Em and definitely better than Carnegie's (but Em's still partial to Carnegie's cheesecake...)

Saturday was Matt's actual birthday and he insisted that he be allowed to make the feast for the day (to which Em didn't object too much because let's face it, Matt's a WAY better cook than she is...)

When we finished eating, we got ready and headed out to go dancing. Two of Matt's favorite DJ's (from the Hood Internet) were DJing at a club in Hipster Brooklyn so we made our way down there and met up with Derek.

Valentine's Surprise

It was so sweet of Matty to surprise me with these beautiful white roses for Valentine's day. He also planned a great outing to one of my favourite restaurants in the city. I had a great time - thanks so much sweetheart! I love you!!!!

Mama's Visit!

Mama ventured out to the Big Apple on her own this weekend, and it was a blast! Unfortunately, as you are all aware, we're not very devoted picture takers, but we took some around the apartment before she left us.
